The process is super simple! Reach out to us however you prefer (text, email, call, note via Facebook or Instagram) and let us know what you're after. We'll arrange a time with you within a week to come by and view your space, talk through your ideas and wish list and really understand what you're wanting to do. We may even suggest different ideas or let you know what could work/won't work. From there, we go away and generate a quote for you and send it through to your email via Hnry. If you're happy with the quote, you'll accept and we will schedule when to do the work.

We use long-lasting materials suited to local conditions. 

All fixings are galvanalised and/or stainless steel depending on location of house and building code regulation. We use a variety of materials - typically treated pine, hardwoods including bamboo, and composites. We can discuss with you to find the best one for the job and style you're after.

At The Wood Whisperer we love to take the ideas in your head or Pinterest board and turn them into reality. Alternatively, we have a keen eye to suggest design ideas for your space. A lot of what we do is kind of "freestyle organic" - clients want something, but don't always know the full extent of what they are after - the layout, the flow and functionality, etc. We are more than happy to talk through ideas, share experiences, and craft the perfect experience for you. Our motto is "I'll build it, but you have to live with it", so we want it exactly how you want it. We are not here to take your money - if it isn't right we won't recommend it.

Guppy can work from customer-provided plans but will validate that they're suitable and workable before building. 

Bamboo has skyrocketed in popularity lately, and is becoming a top choice among discerning clients.

Screw free and visually attractive, bamboo has a naturally hardy exterior that does not require varnish to seal or colour, and requires minimal maintenance, as well as being a sustainable and eco friendly option. It is extremely hard wearing and long lasting, with a lifespan of 25+ years.

If you are in the market for hard woods and composites, bamboo should definitely be an option.

We work with Plantation Bamboo as a verified builder partner.

Greater Wellington region - from the Eastern suburbs through to Kapiti, as well as Upper and Lower Hutt areas. Further areas can be discussed.

Small jobs are welcome. There is a standard half-day minimium charge.

Handyman work, signage/street signs, garden boxes and custom/bespoke carpentry - feel free to reach out with what you're thinking or needing done, and we can take it from there.

Standard quoting/site visits can be free, but charges may apply for long-distance travel, extensive design work or detailed plans.

Often there are considerations that haven't even been tought of - e.g. throughfare, where/how the sun will hit.

Yes. There are lots of considerations that need to be taken into account, and that is something we would work through with the initial discussion.

Yes, by negotiation. Materials must be fit for purpose/specification. Consider storage history, age/condition and colour matching. Product warranties may be limited where WW hasn't supplied the material. 

New builds, rebuilds, extensions, repairs, board replacement, stairs, balustrades, privacy screens, built-in seating, heat-pump covers/integrated features, garden boxes and built-in planters.
